The Land Rover Series I, II, and III (commonly referred to as Series Land Rovers to distinguish them from later models), or simply Land-Rover, has been produced by the Rover Company since 1948, and later by British Leyland.

The International Harvester Scout is an off-road vehicle produced by International Harvester from 1961 to 1980. A precursor to more sophisticated SUVs to come, it was built in Fort Wayne, Indiana to compete with the Jeep.

A car for all reasons - Land Rover introduced the Range Rover Classic in June 1970 as its initial entry into the emerging sport-utility market. One of the early 4x4 mid-size Sport utility vehicles on the market, the Range Rover Classic, enjoyed a production run from 1969 to 1996.
